Welcome, Jen!

This week we welcomed Jen to Architecture Advantage! She has joined our growing St. Paul office as an Architectural Designer.

Jen brings a unique background to our firm. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and a Global and Cultural Studies minor, and later earned her Master of Architecture degree at Iowa State University. Soon after, she began her professional career in the Twin Cities. She has experience in the residential and hospitality realms, with a particular focus on an empathetic approach and universal design. Jen has a deep interest in the impact of design – how a compelling and engaging space can impact the people it serves. She is dedicated to teamwork and collaboration and is eager to forge strong partnerships with our clients and industry partners. Jen is currently dedicated to pursuing her architecture licensure to enhance her ability to support our Metro team.

Jen grew up cross country skiing in Ely and has always loved calling this state home. From enjoying the natural beauty up north to exploring the culinary landscape of the Metro, she finds there is something to enjoy in every pocket of Minnesota. You will often find Jen curled up with a good book, sipping on a warm cup of tea, or simply enjoying the little pleasures of life with her husband and feline friends.

Storytelling has always been at the forefront of what I love to do, whether it was directing short plays with my sister when we were little, writing and producing them during my time at the University of Minnesota, or going behind the camera to capture my travels in adulthood. Now, in marketing, not only do I get to continue to tell stories, but I have the opportunity to connect with a larger audience. Evaluating social media data and using the information to develop strategies and determine how to tell a story provides a unique challenge that I love taking on every day. I never imagined that I would end up applying my marketing background to the architecture and engineering industry, but it pushes me to think outside of the box and find new ways to put the pieces of the story together.

My interest in design started with a passion for creative problem-solving. I graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and a Global and Cultural Studies minor. At Scholastica, I was encouraged to pursue a career based on values of responsible living and meaningful work, which led me to the field of architecture. I earned my Master of Architecture degree at Iowa State University in 2019 and soon after began my professional career in the Twin Cities. Thus far, my experience in the field has been in the residential and hospitality realms. My work has taught me the value of Universal Design and the importance of protecting the health and welfare of all people in our community. I am currently in pursuit of my architectural license, and I am always looking for new opportunities to learn about the field.
