Saint Jude Catholic Church

Grand Rapids, MI

Designed in anticipation of the Second Vatican Council reforms, the church gathers 850 people into dose proximity to the altar. The worship space is nearly as wide as it Is long. The altar and the baptismal font are on axis together as an expression of their relationship.

The entire entry and narthex are set beneath a gridded steel bell tower that terminates the parking area while forming a transparent canopy. The church design has been commended for its aesthetic contributions and enduring quality.
