Arrowhead Electric

Lutsen, MN

As a rural electric cooperative serving a large area of northeast Minnesota, Arrowhead Electric was in need of additional space for their growing staff, and more importantly, wanted to use that need as a time to demonstrate to their customers a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The existing 6700 SF facility was completely remodeled to house their lineman staff and equipment, locker rooms, fitness room and mechanical space.

A 5900 SF addition housed their lobby, reception, member service, office management, conference, break room and vault/filing storage. The mechanical/electrical room was designed large enough to allow for tours to take place within the space to demonstrate to interested members or groups the energy-effi cient systems including geothermal heat pump (both water-water and water-air), photovoltaic hot water heating, and electrical usage.

The entire project team worked together to achieve a LEED®-Gold Certification for New Construction.
