Deino Wonosikou

Architectural Intern

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria and I am from a state called Adamawa, but my family left the country when I was six months and we have lived in Cameroon, England, Mali, Portugal and now call France home now. I moved back to Nigeria for high school and moved to Minneapolis at 16 to study Architecture! I would like to attribute my love for architecture and the built environment to my parents' persistence in experiencing cultures that were quite different from ours. This included visiting ancient castles all over Europe and seeing cities emerge in my still developing country of Nigeria. I am a product of all these experiences as I have chosen to make a career out of it. I take a lot of joy in participating in clubs and organizations in school I have been a board member at my school’s NOMAS (National Organization of Minority Architecture Students) chapter since my second year and was President last school year.  I am also a co-chair for a mentorship program called BOLD, a collaborative program by NOMAS and IIDA (International Interior Design Association) for students and emerging professionals in the industry. I’m always on the lookout for cultural experiences around the Twin Cities. If it involves art, history, music and food you’ll probably find me there! I also enjoy long runs and walks, cooking for friends and family, and visiting museums, libraries or any captivating publicly accessible space!
