Pillsbury Hall Selected for SCUP 2024 North Central Regional Conference Tour

July 2, 2024

The University of Minnesota’s Pillsbury Hall has been selected as a featured tour at this year’s North Central Regional Conference for The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP).

SCUP is “a learning-centric association that fosters an inclusive community of practice in integrated planning to advance colleges and universities.” The conference will focus on integrated planning – a sustainable approach to planning that not only brings the organization together, but accounts for future changes.

In 2021, Architecture Advantage (formerly RRTL) completed work on Pillsbury Hall, the second oldest building on the University of Minnesota campus. The project converted a 60,100 square-foot science building into a home base for the University’s English department. An additional 2,500 square-foot utility area was created in the crawl space sub-basement to bring Pillsbury Hall square footage up to 62,600.

As part of the renovation and rehabilitation of Pillsbury Hall, the vacant attic was given new purpose after being converted into a classroom space. Flex areas were added throughout the building to accommodate students’ needs – whether that be space to collaborate with peers or stations for solo work.

This year’s North Central Regional Conference will take place October 22-23 in Minneapolis. Registration is now open, and stay tuned for more details on the Pillsbury Hall tour.
