Harriet Island Public Support Facilities and Stage

St. Paul, MN

Centered at the bend of the Mississippi River as it flows through downtown St. Paul, Harriet Island is a city park focused on the river and entertainment activities. Two pavilions for the Jonathan Padelford and the University of Minnesota Showboat combine their separate ticket offices with public restrooms and park storage facilities.

The restrooms are identified by buff colored brick while the ticket areas are highlighted with red brick. The passage through both pavilions allows protected access to the restrooms and the ticket booths.

The main stage was sponsored by the Target Corporation and designed in consortium with noted Architect Michael Graves. The restoration of the Clarence Wigington Pavilion creates an enclosed venue with public rest rooms, kitchen, and meeting hall. All form a backdrop to the river for festivals, concerts, Taste of Minnesota, and smaller scale picnics in this completely redesigned St. Paul City Park.
